I would like to take this time to thank you all for coming. It means a lot to me and my brothers and sisters. It is obvious my father had a lot of friends and family who truly cared and considered him a true friend. He was a simple but honorable man who stood for justice and equality for all. There were times in his life where he experienced a lot of injustice or discrimination, but he did not waiver in his quest to move forward and make a better life for himself and his family. He was a dedicated and hard worker and never missed a day of work unless he was truly ill. He provided a good home for his family. He and our mother enjoyed the simple things and also enjoyed having family get togethers. I remember the parties they would have almost every weekend when we lived on Flower Street with lots of music and, of course, tequila. We would also make frequent trips to Santa Monica to visit my uncles and cousins. He loved being with his family.
I never heard him say one prejudicial or discriminatory word about or to anyone. He treated everyone the same.
