Judith Lee (Strauss) Briggs passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior after battling a nine month illness at the age of 71 on Friday, September 25th at St. Bernadine’s Medical Center in San Bernardino, CA. Judy was born October 25, 1943 at Community Hospital in San Bernardino, CA. She was a graduate of Colton High School and a longtime resident of Southern California, residing for many years in Fontana, Bloomington, Rialto, Reche Canyon and San Bernardino. She was a retired disabled homemaker but most proud of the years she worked as a Pre-School Teacher’s Aide for Bloomington Christian School Day Care Center at the Bloomington Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington, CA before retiring. Judy was very excited serving as the Vice-President of her Senior Apartment Complex Activities Committee where she resided before her illness. She and her longtime former husband Robert Briggs of 29 years especially enjoyed traveling around the Inland Empire to listen to various live gospel quartet groups in concert, especially the Bill Gaither’s, Blackwood Brothers and Californians Gospel Quartets. Judy lived a simple life but especially loved to buy gifts for others and see everyone around her happy. She loved animals and did her best to put a smile on all those around her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents John and Gladys Geraldine Strauss-Palstring and younger sister, Joan Thompson. She is survived by her two sons; William Scott and his wife Diana of San Bernardino, CA, Phillip Scott and his wife Colleen of Crestline, CA; her surviving sisters, Dorothy Van Dyke of Rialto, Linda Lovett and her husband, Dennis of Riverside, CA, her brother Harold Strauss and his wife Ame of Rialto, CA. She was also survived and very proud of her four Grand Children, Austin and Nathanial Scott, and Andy and Corina Silva, her nieces and nephews: Beth Dodson, Shonna Reipe, Angela Van Dyke, Shane Lovett and Lisa Miller, ShelB Rindahl, Tanya Hernandez, Tiffany Gordon, Tami Strauss and Levi Strauss. She was also very blessed and proud of her many great nieces and nephews.
Judy’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary, 11715 Cedar Ave., Bloomington, CA 92316. A family viewing begin at 9:00am, with her celebration of life service scheduled at 10:00am. The graveside service will immediately follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
