Marie Ange will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for her caring spirit, dynamic nature, her ability to make people laugh and her generous heart. We will definitely miss our "Ti Ange." which translates to our "Small Angel."
Marie Ange was born on October 5, 1948, to Raphael and Tulie Bourdeau in Jeremie, Haiti. Although she experienced the loss of her mother at a very young age she carried and shared fond memories of her parents and of her hometown. Marie Ange was fortunate to be raised by her loving uncle and aunt, Louis and Marie Therese Marcelin. Upon completion of her education in Haiti she moved to the United States. Her goal was to learn the English language and get to work. For Marie Ange no job was too big or small. She performed her duties with diligence and excellence. She took pride in being a caregiver and at times working multiple jobs.
Marie Ange had a deep love for family and although her siblings may have been far from sight they remained close to her heart. She had a strong bond with her siblings, her big brother, Gerard, little sister, Bibiane who she called "B" and her baby sister and brother, Ketly and Ketnel. She found comfort in praying for them. She was a Catholic with strong Chrisitian faith and that gave her reassurance.
Marie Ange considered herself blessed as she found herself growing up with cousins that loved her as a sister. She loved them all too. The eldest being Marie lourdes, next came Mario, then Viviane, Francoise, Suzelle, and we can't forget John. Last but not least her first and only goddaughter, Lolita. Marie Ange was so blessed in that she had a strong bond with her cousins Yvrose, Leydy and Mozart. She also had family and friends that she maintained contact with through the years.
She spent her young adult years living with her family at the famous "Dalton" house in Los Angeles, California. That's where she first met her husband, Eric Paul. They fell in love and were inseparable. They raised a daughter together, Daphney. Marie Ange felt blessed to have in her life a wonderful stepdaughter, Maniouka and two wonderful stepsons, Fritzgerald and Eric Jr. Marie Ange became a "domestic goddess" in every way. She especially loved singing around the house keeping a tidy home and giving people advice. Boy, did she love to give people advice. She loved to get dressed up and go to new and exciting places. She loved the traditional family Christmas Eve parties with family. As her family continued to expand she was excited to welcome her son in-law, Gerald Vera. She truly loved him as a son.
Once her home became an empty nest, she sprung back to life with the birth of her grandchildren Jared Alexander and Jenevieve Marie Vera. She adored them so very much. It brought her joy to see them and help out as much as she possibly could. Marie Ange had two sets of grandchildren that she shared with Eric and it brought her joy to see them all. She appreciated having a big family and loved the fact that she had so many nieces, nephews, sister in-laws and brother in-laws to enjoy and spend time with during summer.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Eric Paul, her daughter, Daphney Reid Vera (Gerald Vera), stepdaughter Maniouka Melendez, stepsons Fritzgerald Paul and Eric Paul Jr; her uncle Louis V. Marcelin; her brothers Gerard Bourdeau and Ketnel Bourdeau and sisters Marie Bibiane Lalanne and Marie Ketly Bourdeau.
Her grandchildren: Jared, Jenevieve, Mikaella, Monet, Gabrielle, Dominque, Alex, Caedin, Symone, Kal-el and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, sister in-laws and brother in-laws.
Marie Ange, our Ti Ange, may you rest in peace and know that you'll be loved and missed by everyone near and dear to you.
Release Me
Release me, let me go, I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love and you can only guess, How much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled alone.
So grieve awhile for me, If grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust, It's only for awhile that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on, So, if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near, and If you listen with your heart, you'll hear all of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"welcome home".
