Raymundo D. Mejia was born on a Sunday, February 7, 1932 to Jose and Rita Mejia, in Alta Loma California. He was married to Ramona Mejia and they raised six children, Frances (Edward), Anna (Ralph), Joey (Ermelinda), Angel (Elizabeth), Olga, Brenda (Art). He had four brothers, Charlie, Johnny, Manual, and Reyes, and five sisters, Cora, Gloria, Licha, Pancha, and Mary Jessie. Litcha and Reyes survive him.
He leaves a legacy of 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
His early childhood was centered around San Bernardino, California. He didn't venture far from this area, working in the orange groves of Redlands, the apricot orchards in Hemet, and the field of the Central Valley. At the age 15 he served a short term in the California National Guard. He was hired at Kaiser Steel in 1957 and retired from there in 1984.
His children remember him as being a great provider. They had a roof over their heads, food in the refrigerator, clothes, the bills were always paid, and at the end of his life he rededicated it to Jesus Christ and was able to hear his children ask for his forgiveness and that they forgave him.
In summary, Raymundo did not travel very far, never flew in an airplane, owned a computer, cell phone or knew about the world wide web, but he did experience forgiveness and is with his Heavenly Father.
