Alice Ann Redding, 84, known to many as Ann, died from cancer on
April 6th, 2020. Alice died peacefully at her home in Pinecrest Village in
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Born on February 28, 1936 in Shannon, Illinois to Anna and Oris
Frederick. Alice grew up on a farm, and was the youngest of five children.
She attended a one-room school house until her family moved to
Bloomington, Illinois where she attended high school and went on to study
and graduate with a degree in Nursing at Illinois Wesleyan University.
While attending Illinois Wesleyan, Alice met Howard Redding. They
eventually married and had four children of their own. The first years of
their marriage, they lived in Illinois, and when Howard was transferred to
Indianapolis, they settled in Carmel, Indiana. Alice lost her husband to
Acute Leukemia, and she returned to nursing full time. The final years of
her nursing career, she was a Hospice RN at St. Vincent’s Hospital in
Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to working as a nurse and raising four children, Alice
loved gardening, reading, and volunteering in the community and at
church.
She remained in Carmel until three years ago. In March of 2017, she
moved to Pinecrest Village in Sturgeon Bay, to be closer to two of her
daughters.
Alice is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren.
The graveside committal service at East Lawn Memorial Gardens is going to be a private, family only, service.
