Pastor Jonathan Huehn of Christ Lutheran Church officiated the private family memorial service to remember and celebrate Casey’s life at East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 1102 Airport Road in Bloomington, Illinois with interment to follow the memorial services.
Casey was born to Al and Becky Schmidt who lovingly called him “Casey Robert”. Casey was also the younger brother of Corey who often called him “Case”, and Ashley who affectionately called him “my baby” when her parents brought him home from the hospital.
Casey was a baptized & confirmed child of God and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison, Illinois where he attended church services, Sunday School, as well as, Bible School.
In May 2000, Casey graduated from Morrison Community High School in Morrison, Illinois. After graduating from high school, Casey chased his dreams to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he would earn not only an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering, but also a Master’s degree in the same field of study. Casey was always fascinated with flight and this love would continue throughout his short adult life into the aerospace engineering field of work where he worked for ATA Airlines, AirTran Airlines & Boeing.
Casey loved spending time with his family, especially his nephews. He never turned down an opportunity to get down on the floor and play with them. Likewise, his family loved him immensely and visits were never long enough.
Casey’s other loves were paragliding off of Tiger Mountain, skydiving, whitewater rafting, surfing, snowboarding and camping any chance he could go. If there was an adventure or travel to be taken, Casey was all in. He had a true love for nature & the great outdoors where he found peace.
Casey is survived by his parents, Al & Becky Schmidt of Bloomington, Illinois; his brother, Corey Schmidt (Tonya) of Naperville, Illinois; his sister, Ashley Brewer (Jason) of Bloomington, Illinois; his nephews and niece, Tyler, Trevor, Miles, Max, and Taylor. In addition, Casey has countless uncles, aunts and cousins.
Casey was preceded in death by his maternal & paternal grandparents as well as uncles, aunts & cousins.
We hope you find time to remember Casey in your prayers and in your own special way, keeping in mind that our time here on Earth is temporary and we will all be together again in eternal life.
