Debra L. Ruiz

Debra was a very happy person. Even though she was born with cerebral palsy and needed the aide of her mother as well as the Shriners Hospital for Children, she was able to walk. Debra went on to perform baton twirling and lead in parades as she grew up. She loved Elvis, playing Bingo, going fishing, and participating with East View Christian Church.

Surviving are her children, Tanya Gauf, Nicole Beckum, Jason Ruiz; grandchildren, Amber Gauf, Sabrina Gauf, Peyton Ruiz, Karlee Ruiz, Logan Disney, William Disney, Isabella Disney, Bentley Beckum, Eros Beckum; sister, Lori (Michael) Buzick; nephews, Michael Buzick Jr., Chad Buzick; step-dad, William Nichols; and several cousins.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, Betty Nichols and Robert Champion; daughter, Tasha; and brother, Robert Michael Champion.

Cremation rites have been accorded with East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at Eastview Christian Church on October 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, who has helped to save her nephew, Chad’s, life.
