Donald D Swigart

Donald was born March 24, 1924 in Piatt County to Theodore and Hazel Stalker Swigart. He married Mary Potter March 2, 1946; she survives.

Also surviving are 4 children, Mary Hayward, Normal, Steven Swigart, Hope Mills, NC, Laura (Gale) Shurtz, Manito, and Patricia (Randy) Balmer, Lakeville, IN; 11 grandchildren, Susan, Sandra, Dale, Karen, Stephanie, Jeremy, Kathryn, Dawn, Melissa, Rebecca, and Ron; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Elizabeth of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 great-grandson, and 1 brother.

Donald was a hard worker and held several jobs before attending the DeVry Institute in Chicago. He went on to work at Sears for many years as an electronics repairman in Bloomington. He enjoyed flying and operating his ham radio. After retiring, he and his wife visited all 50 states and parts of Canada.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19 2012 from 10:00am-11:00am at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Graveside services will immediately follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, where entombment will take place.
