

Edna “Sue” Garrett, 86, formerly of Hudson, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Heartland Healthcare Services in Normal.
She was born November 24, 1924 in Mill Shoals, IL, daughter of Martin and Cordelia Files Gwaltney. She married Henry Perry Garrett on June 12, 1943 in White County, IL. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2000 in Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Ray and siblings, Pearl Harbett, Wayne Thacker, Willis Gwaltney, Kathleen Jones, Jean Gwaltney and Henry Gwaltney.
Surviving are one daughter, Glenda (Ken) Bass of League City, TX; two sons, Gary (Connie) Garrett and Randy (Pam) Garrett, both of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Chris (Brenda) Garrett, Amanda (Chris) Bogle, Chad (Jessica) Garrett, Justin (Jodie) Garrett and Tanya (Craig) Stambaugh. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Keagan Garrett, Landen Garrett, Easton Garrett, Elijah Garrett, Madelyn Garrett and Lincoln Stambaugh; one sister, Phyllis Simpson of Dekalb and one brother, Warren Thacker of Indiana.
Sue loved spending time with family and friends. She and Henry spent many happy years together in Hudson and spent their retirement in Cherokee Village, Ark.
She was a member of New Liberty Primitive Baptist Church in Champaign and also attended Four Seasons Church of Christ in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, where visitation will be two hours prior to services (beginning at 1p.m.). Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
