

Gary was born October 18, 1934, in Muscatine, IA to Clyde W. and Anna M. McKibben Ramseyer. He married Barbara Kay Stientjes August 20, 1961 in Sioux City, IA; she survives.
Also surviving are 1 son, Joel Ramseyer, Normal and 1 daughter, Vicki (Jamie) Morrow, Naperville; 5 grandsons, Austin, Christopher and Caleb Ramseyer and Brandon and Ryan Morrow; 1 sister, Margaret (Dick) Wilson, Muscatine, IA; 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Clark Ramseyer, 1 sister Jeannie (Leo) Mallie and an infant brother.
Gary taught math for 4 years at University High School and was a graduate assistant, both at the University of Iowa. He received his PhD in Educational Statistics from the University of Iowa in 1965 and later served on the Alumni board. He came to Illinois State University that same year, retiring as a Statistics professor in 1998. While at ISU he served on the Athletic Council, ISU Credit Union Board and the Redbird Club Board.
Gary had a lifelong love of sports and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He played baseball semi-professionally with the Muscatine Red Sox from 1952-63. He coached his son’s travel baseball team, served on the American Legion Baseball Committee, and was an IHSA umpire. He also owned J & G Baseball Cards. Gary was a member of the Normal Lion’s Club and numerous professional organizations. He was a distinguished member of the Iowa NAPP club.
He was very proud of his Internet Gallery of Statistics Jokes that appeared in the top 10 search results on Google.
Most important was the relationship Gary had with his family. He was an excellent father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s musical and athletic activities.
Memorial services will be held 1pm Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of East Lawn Funeral Home.
