Rd Bloomington at 10 AM.

George was born on January 8, 1933 in Bloomington, the son of Fred Selden Myers and Annie Maria Schilling Myers. He married Judith Harwood in Atlanta, Illinois on February 1, 1957.
George was survived by his wife of 68 years; A daughter Amelia Anne (Ted) Boyer; Grandchildren, Amber Kathleen Boyer, Lauren Alexis (John) Casper, and Kevin James Boyer, all of Virginia; 2 nephews, David Myers, Hudson, Richard Myers, Washington D.C.; 3 nieces, J.E. Myers, Renee(Kevin) Genge, Leslie Kessler; greatgrandchildren, Mareto Casper, and Arsemawit Casper.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Carol; His parents; three brothers, Fred M., Albert L., and Richard L.; Three sisters, Virginia V. Lawyer, Mary Ellen Deuterman, and Elsie Eileen Myers; niece Cynthia Deuterman; and nephews Robert L. Deuterman, and Leonard Myers. Great Nephew Eric Myers
George was a lifetime resident of Bloomington except for a 4 year enlistment in the US Navy and an 18 year residency in Hudson, IL.
George attended Bloomington public schools, graduating from BHS in 1952. Upon graduation he immediately entered the US Navy. He took basic training and attended Engineman school at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He was assigned to the ice breaker Staten Island AGB5 with Boston, MA as his home port. During service aboard the Staten Island, he crossed the Arctic Circle eight times and passed through the Panama Canal on the way to a new home port in Seattle.
Upon completion of his Navy enlistment, George returned to Bloomington, attended IWU and married.
During his residency in Hudson, George was very active in the Lions Club, serving in several offices including President. George was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. For 12 years, he portrayed the Apostle James the Less in the church depiction of the Last Supper at the Maundy Thursday service.
He was also a member of Bloomington Blue Lodge #43 AF&AM and 32° member of the Bloomington Consistory.
George retired from State Farm Insurance in 1991 after 31 years of service. He was active in the Central Illinois Chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA). He was the first employee at State Farm to receive the designation Certified Records Manager (CRM).
George enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, gardening, bicycling, kite flying, travels with his wife, and videography. He loved his family and was very loving to them.
