

Jack E. Robb, Sr., of Bloomington, IL passed away at 7:50pm Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home.
Jack was born St. Patrick’s Day in Decatur, IL over 80 years ago. As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a wake held at his home Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2pm-4pm, located at 1301 Inglewood Circle in Bloomington. Everyone is invited to come have a drink and tell a funny story, or share a memory of Jack. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or OSF Hospice care.
Jack was born the son of Merle “Louie” and Maude Parr Robb. He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Rose; his children Shannon Robb-Park of Austin, TX, Cheri Williams of Bloomington, Jack Robb, Jr. of Normal, Charles Robb of Bloomington and Cassandra (Patrick) Piehl of Normal; two sisters, Patricia Lockridge of Richmond, IN and Judyth (Jim) Norton of Monticello, IL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Michele Herrick.
Jack was a US Navy Veteran, serving honorably in China and the Korean War. After graduating from Millikin University in Decatur, Jack work for State Farm. He was the Director of Training and Development and designed the company’s sales and business management training programs. During the 1970’s, he was active in Toastmasters International. He was a consistent winner in speaking contests, and ultimately earned the Distinguished Toastmaster Award.
During the latter part of his career at State Farm, Jack was a manager and a State Farm agent in Farmington, NM. While in New Mexico, Jack also taught risk management at San Juan College.
He was co-owner of several race horses that raced at San Juan Downs in New Mexico. Jack enjoyed fishing and was a stamp collector. He founded a stamp club in Farmington, NM and was an active member of Corn Belt Philatelic Society in Bloomington, earning numerous gold medals for his stamp exhibits. He also co-founded a children’s stamp club, Mr. Stamp’s Friends, which continues today. Additionally, Jack liked to visit riverboat casinos with friends.
Jack will be missed by all who knew him.
