John Henry Erbe Jr.

John H. Erbe, Jr., 73, of Bloomington, passed away at 8:14 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at his home.

He was born August 9, 1937 in Normal, son of John H. and Oleta Day Erbe. He married Jane Lake on August 2, 1959.

Surviving are one daughter, Diane Haab of Bloomington; three sons, Kevin Erbe, Gregory Erbe and Scott (Tanya) Erbe, all of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Aaron) Erbe, Jr, Keith (Erika) Erbe, Emmanuelle (Eric) Fron, Mason Shepherd, Kaley Haab, Kinzie Erbe and Keelin Erbe and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Joe (Inge) Erbe of CA and three sisters, June (Jim) Irwin and Rose Erbe, both of Bloomington and Helen (Dick) Arnold of UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

John was a United States Army Veteran.

He retired from Son-O-Mag, where he worked as an electrical engineer. He also enjoyed vacationing to Wisconsin to spend time with his friends and family. John loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending many of their activities. After retiring, he enjoyed various hobbies such as, repairing computers, golfing and traveling.

John formerly attended Heartland Community Church.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, where visitation will be two hours prior to services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
