

Marjorie was born March 14, 1917 in Wapella to Newton and Elma Thomas Peasley. She later married Robert Melton; he preceded her in death in December 1986.
Also preceding her in death are one daughter, Dixie Griffin; one son, Jerry Melton; and her parents.
Marjorie is survived by daughter Karon Melton, Normal; 4 grandchildren Tim (Candace Schilling) Griffin, Normal, Jeff (Angie) Griffin, Downs, Jerry Melton, Downs, and Mike (Julie) Melton, Cape Coral, FL; 6 great-grandchildren Kadie and Cole Griffin, Ashley Melton, and Destini, Madison and Jayda Melton and very close family friend Carol Riggle, Bloomington.
Marjorie and her husband started Bob Melton Truck Service in Bloomington in 1946; she was active in the business throughout her lifetime. Her family was very important, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed having Sunday dinners with them, and was a great homemaker. She was a gardener who enjoyed puzzles and watching the Cubs. She was known as Granny by all her family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, December 26, 2011 from 4pm-6pm at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, CISAR or an organization of the donor’s choice.
