

Mary was born on December 15, 1923, in Leroy, the daughter of Hal and Marguerite Wilcox McCain. She married Ralph Raney on June 19, 1949 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Surviving are her son; Steve (Norma) Raney of Bloomington and their family; Matthew (Jennifer) Long and their daughters Riley and Piper; Kevin (Stacy) Long and daughters Avery and Emersyn; Amy (Michael) Messacar and children Dylan and Rachel.
In addition to her husband Ralph, she was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nellie Soule; brothers, Homer “Mike” McCain and Robert McCain; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Long.
Mary attended Illinois Wesleyan University and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. As a member of Lakeside Country Club for many years , she enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing bridge. Being an avid bridge player she played duplicate bridge and traveled to many states to play in bridge tournaments. In 1993 she reached her goal of becoming a Life Master of bridge. She also was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls and enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially golf and tennis. Ralph and Mary lived in Fort Myers, Florida from 1975 to 2012.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Lakeside Country Club, 1201 Croxton Ave, Bloomington, IL 61701. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family requests that everyone dress casually and wear purple since that was Mary's favorite color.
