

He was born August 23, 1946 in the small coal-mining town of Westville, Illinois to Anthony and Josephine (Janushewski) Rimshas.
He married the former Nancy Keen on December 14, 1973 in Normal, Illinois and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage together.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Rimshas of Bloomington; children; Shelly (Michael) Hart of Bloomington, Holly Kansiawala of Normal and Jesse (Karen) Rimshas of Ishpeming, Michigan; grandchildren, Victoria (Anthony) Lush, Aubree (Shawn) Ankenbrandt, Autumn Hart, Alyssa Hart, Ashlee Hart, Anthony Rimshas, Thomas Rimshas, and Isabella Rimshas; and two great-grandchildren, Emerson Lush and Easton Lush.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Margie Keen and his sister, Marj Madison.
Mike was a US Army veteran and was stationed in Vietnam during his service. He loved his country and was a proud member of the American Legion in Bloomington where he was a dedicated member of the Legion military funeral honor guard.
His grandparents were first generation immigrants from Lithuania and he was very proud of his heritage.
As the son of a coal miner, Mike had a strong work ethic and was a Warehouseman at Keen Tile for twenty-five years.
He loved the Lord and was an active member for many years at Calvary Baptist Church in Normal where he served in the bus ministry and Children’s Church. He later became a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Bloomington.
Mike was well-loved by his family and friends, and known for his quick wit and easygoing personality. He had a tender and gentle heart for people that had special needs. He enjoyed attending car shows and was passionate for cars, especially his beloved Mini Cooper.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Vince Kobosh officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington beginning with a Final Salute from Mike’s American Legion Comrades at 5:15 PM and continuing with open visitation from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Freedom Baptist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Freedom Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
