

Peggy was born May 12, 1937, in Lincoln. She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1955 and attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo. She married Arthur "Merv" Thompson on June 20, 1959, at the Assembly of God church in Lincoln.
Peggy loved life and loved people. She was the Logan County Fair queen in 1955 and enjoyed attending the fair as an alum and former fair queen. She sold real estate for 36 years and made numerous lifelong friends in the process.
She was avidly involved in Christian Women's Club and in the First Assembly of God in Normal. She was the head coach of the multiple-year state and regional champion Clinton Assembly of God quiz team in the late 1970s and early ’80s.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Merv Thompson; her children, Lori "Toni" Thompson, Des Moines, Iowa; Amy (David) Donaldson, Bloomington; Julee Thompson, Bloomington; and fourth "daughter," Crystal (Larry Bright) Thompson, Clinton; her granddaughter, Kara Cosand, Bloomington; great-granddaughter, Layani Crumpler, and her father, Mike Crumpler, both of Bloomington; her brother, Ken (Joy) Letterle, Lafayette, La.; nephews, Darwin (Fran) Thompson, Clinton; Gail (Ari) Letterle, Lafayette, La.; and Mike (Sue Shinneman) Arnold; nieces, Pat (Bill) West, Tremont, and Rita Anderson, Bloomington. She is also survived by her best friend of more than 50 years, Pat Butler.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lora Davis; father, Oscar Letterle; and her "second mom," Jeannie Turbin.
At Peggy's request, there will be no service at this time due to her husband's failing heath. However, there will be a joint memorial service at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Advocate BroMenn Hospice for all their compassion and care. Also, thanks to the entire staff of Heritage Health of Bloomington.
