After years of chronic illness, Robert Edward Erbe finally decided he had had enough of this crap and he died peacefully on February 3, 2017 holding hands with his wife and daughter. He was born on August 13, 1957 to Mary and Joseph Erbe in Decatur, Illinois. Robert, along with his three siblings, had a childhood loaded with adventure, mischief and even a few misdemeanors that would make for many compelling stories for years to come. He spent time growing up in Illinois, Nevada and California.
In 1987, he established a friendship with Sherry that grew into the deepest kind of love as they raised her daughter, Falon, together. After many years together, they were legally married in 2001. Sherry’s quiet and tolerant nature complimented Robert’s outspoken tendencies perfectly throughout the course of their marriage. Robert spent his professional career as a tool and die engineer. He took pride in the precise nature of his work and he had an extraordinary aptitude and passion for mathematics. He was an incredibly hard working and generous provider for his family. However, Robert’s true gift was parenthood. While Falon was not born to Robert she became his with years of love, patience and reverence. He educated her in the fine art of Rock N Roll and helped her cultivate a deep appreciation for action films. Robert ensured that Falon grew into a strong woman that knew her worth and took no shit. For that, she will forever be grateful.
Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed bow-hunting, fishing, disassembling various machines and leaving their parts all over the kitchen table, playing electric guitar and debating politics. He was a patriot and a lover of the Constitution. Robert adored his beloved dachshund and constant companion for the past 10 years, Rudy.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sherry Erbe, his daughter, Falon Scheer, his mother, Mary Erbe, his step-mother, Inge Erbe, his siblings Deniece Marshall and John Marshall Erbe, his granddaughter, Daria Scheer and his son-in-law, Aaron Scheer. He was proceeded in death by his father, Joseph Erbe, his eldest brother, Joseph Erbe II and his favorite tabby cat, Toby.
As the world’s most anti-social extrovert, Robert requested to forego a traditional memorial service. If you feel wistful or compelled to celebrate him, drink a Miller High-Life (just one because one beer was always plenty) and listen to Stairway to Heaven.
