Per Bo's request, there will be no public service or visitation. A private service will be held at a later date. East Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

He was born February 14, 1947 in Chicago, son of Evar "Phil" and Ruth Halston Hanson. He married Gail Fouts on July 5, 1969, she preceded him in death on April 9, 2012. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Hanson.

Surviving are his daughter, Stefanie Mathewson of Dallas, TX and his son, Mark (Lisa) Hanson of Elmhurst; five grandchildren, Jacob Mathewson, Kate Mathewson, Ryan Hanson, William Hanson and Elizabeth Hanson.

He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1969. Bo was a United States Army National Guard veteran and a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington.

After 40 years of working with State Farm Insurance Company, Bloomington, he retired as an Assistant Vice President of Underwriting on December 31, 2009.

He enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer. Bo also liked cheering on the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and University of Iowa Hawkeyes, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with this family; especially his grandchildren.
