Terry E Gibson

Terry E. Gibson, 70, of Normal, IL passed away at 11:23 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

He was born January 16, 1941 in Bloomington, IL, son of Clarence W. and Mary K. Flesher Gibson. He married Patricia Harrawood on July 5, 1960 in Normal, IL. She survives him.

Terry is also survived by two sons, Dennis Gibson of Normal, IL and William (Penny) Gibson of El Paso, IL; one daughter, Linda Gibson of Bloomington, IL; eight grandchildren, Brian Gibson, Christopher Bradley, Sarah Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Jason Bradley, Crystle Gibson, Anthony Gibson and Jacob Gibson. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Preston, Cameron, Braydon and Hailey Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Terry enjoyed a long career as an owner and operator of Gibson’s Sporting Goods in Normal, IL, before retiring in 2002. He was an avid fisherman, 35 years as a tournament and recreational fisherman. He was a founding member of Bloomington-Normal Bass Club and a charter member of B.A.S.S. Terry also enjoyed writing, was a published author, traveling with his wife and photography.

He was a United States Army Veteran.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, IL. East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
