

Terry L. Thompson Sr., 66, of Bloomington, passed away at 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1943 in Port Huron, Michigan, son of Arno and Hazel Shemberger Thompson. He married JoAnn Schmaus on August 22, 1987 in Houston, TX.
Surviving are his wife of Bloomington; one daughter, Lisa (Don Wallace) Stratton of Bloomington; two sons, Terry (Kim) Thompson Jr of Omaha, NE and Richard Thompson of Oldham, SD; two grandsons, Sting Thompson and Brayden Wallace. Also surviving are many sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Christian Rivera.
Terry was a United States Vietnam Veteran, serving two years in the Marines from 1961 to 1963, then serving in the Air Force until 1984. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #635 in Normal.
He worked in sales in Bloomington-Normal for 20 years, retiring in 2005.
Terry was passionate about his military career and loved the military, his family and his country. He also loved his dogs, Buster, Delilah and Maggie.
During his lifetime, Terry was a fighter and survivor. He touched the lives of those surrounding him and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
