

William Robert Lane, 86, resident of Evergreen Village in Normal, passed away Thursday evening, June 28th at 10:35 p.m. at the facility. He was born February 1, 1932 in Bloomington, the son of Frank and Grace Stringer Lane. He married Shirley Hall on May 5, 1972 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2015.
Bill was a longtime bartender at Grand Café in Bloomington. He also worked at the snack shop at Fairlakes Golf Club. Bill was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and loved the game of golf. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 454 in Bloomington.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Evergreen Village, as well as Drs. Jaydev Jani and Yogesh Agarwal for their excellent care.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Ryburn of Heyworth; and Julie (Larry) Stine of Kappa; two sons, Michael Lane of Bloomington; and Bryan (Kelly) Lane of Minonk; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Dulaney; a son, William J. Lane; a grandson, Michael Veselak; a son-in-law, Victor Ryburn; three brothers; and three sisters.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7th at the Victory Church in Bloomington with Pastor Ed Herald officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to VFW Post 454 in Bloomington or the Community Cancer Center of Normal.
