

Bloomington – William Schurr, 88, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at Bloomington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born January 31, 1928, in Bloomington, the only child of William J. and Loyella Tower Schurr.
He married Marjorie Warsaw on March 24, 1950. She survives. Also surviving are three children; Becky (Adam Danenberger) Schurr; Vicky (Larry Hight) Schurr, both of Bloomington; and William L. (Debbie) Schurr, of Mahomet; one grandson, William D. (Samantha) Schurr, of Mahomet; one great-grandson, William R. Schurr, of Mahomet; two step-granddaughters, Amanda and Deidra Eberle; and one step-grandson, Jaxon.
Bill retired from Funk Brothers Seed Company after 28 years. He later worked for Johnson Transfer and Meridian Education. He served 23 years in the Army and Army Reserve retiring with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He is a 50 year member of the Wade Barney Masonic Lodge and Bloomington American Legion.
The family wants to thank Bloomington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the love and care he received there.
Cremation rites have been accorded at East Lawn Funeral Home. There will be no visitation or funeral and a private burial of ashes will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Bloomington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, OSF Hospice and Alzheimer’s Association.
