

Arnold “Buck” Leroy Padgett, 82 of Bloomington, IN passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at I.U. Health Hospice House. He was born December 25, 1933 in Williams, IN the youngest of three sons of the late Arnold and Oma Padgett.
Buck graduated from Williams High School in 1952. He joined the Navy after high school and served four years. He was trained as a pipefitter and was assigned to the USS Greenlet, a submarine rescue ship. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Oahu, HI, and was selected to play basketball with the Navy team. The team was privileged to win many championships.
After serving his country, he graduated from the International Barber School in 1958. He began his career as the owner of Buck’s Barbershop and barbered for over 40 years. He retired later from the Ritz Barbershop. He wasn’t one to stay at home for long and he began working for Town and Country Ford and Chrysler transporting and picking up vehicles all over the United States.
Buck was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Bloomington Lion’s Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 18. He enjoyed golfing, I.U. Basketball, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Buck is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Emilie Padgett; his daughter, Lori Griffith and her husband Greg of Charlestown, IN; his granddaughter, Kyleigh Griffith; a brother, Harold Padgett and his wife Irene; a sister-in-law, Gloria Padgett; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and an aunt, Mary Francis Embry
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Padgett, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, Indiana, officiated by Pastors Robert Campbell and David Mullens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2016 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene and Harrell Chapel, 700 W. Gourley Pike.
