Cathy Judith Swafford

Cathy J. Swafford, age 67, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 30th, 1952, in Bloomington, Indiana, to David and Peggy Adkins Woodward. She married Daniel G. Swafford on July 29th, 1978. Cathy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her fabulous cooking skills will long be remembered by people near and far. She loved music, particularly gospel, and was a beautiful singer and song writer, an accomplished seamstress and was very gifted in crocheting, as well. She will always be remembered for her great love of the Lord, the church and her family and friends. Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Daniel G. Swafford; her daughter, Anjee Browning & husband, Don, of Springville, Indiana; her son, Jim Swafford & wife, Erica, of Bakersfield, California; her mother, Peggy J. Woodward, of Whitehall, Indiana; sisters, Doretta Durnil & husband, Jimmie, of Ellettsville, and Beth Dawley & husband, Gordon, of Bloomington; brother, Andrew Woodward of Whitehall; grandchildren, Cole Postell of Bloomington, Heather Bretsch & husband, Zachary, of Bedford, Shane Browning of Smithville, Zachary Swafford of Bakersfield, California, Christopher Swafford, currently serving with the US Army in Italy, Isis Swafford, Hayden Smith and Ellie Swafford, all of Bakersfield, California, and great-grandchildren Trinity Swafford, Maverick Swafford and James Swafford, also all of Bakersfield, California, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. Cathy was preceded in death by her father, David W. Woodward; her parents-in-law, Dennis and Martha Swafford; and grandparents Raymond and Ruth Adkins and Harry and Frances Woodward. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be sent to Hospice House, 2810 S. Deborah Drive, Bloomington, IN 47401. A Celebration of Cathy’s Life will be held at a later date.
