
David Milton Mathis, age 63, of Bloomington, died Tuesday morning at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born April 11, 1952 in Bloomington, he was the son of Alex and Helen Mathis. David graduated from Bloomington High School and retired from the former Bloomington Creosote plant where he was a forktruck operator.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Grubb) Mathis, of Bloomington; five children, Helen (Ludger) Pedro, David Mathis, Jr., Anniabell (Joe) Sherrill, Danny Mathis and Tim Mathis, all of Bloomington; two brothers, John Mathis, of Ellettsville and Jimmy Mathis, of Greene County, one sister, Rosabell Henderson, of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Daniel Eugene Pedro, Jesse Ray Pedro, Shane Levi Pedro and Areanna Mathis and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen Turpin and Edna Jones.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Rev. Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at 12 noon Monday in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
