Doris Glodene Patterson, age 90, of Bloomington departed this earth Sunday morning, December 12, 2021 at her residence to go be with her heavenly father. Born October 25, 1931 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Abe and Mallie (Cummings) Stanton.
Doris worked at RCA before running a halfway house for mentally challenged women for thirty years. Doris enjoyed crafts, artwork, outdoor gardening, being a good cook and being with her loving family. She was a member of Adams Street Chapel and the Red Hats Society.
Doris is survived by two sons, John Robert Chambers, of Bloomington and Mark Stephen (Star) Chambers, of Solsberry; two daughters, Roberta Ann (William) Clendening and Sheila Diane Morrow, both of Bloomington; three sisters, Brenda Kay Stanton and Glendolyn “Billie” Roberts, both of Bloomington and Martha Temple, of Kingman, Arizona, eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert B. Chambers, second husband, Noel W. Patterson, five sisters, Margaret Ohler, Josephine Hash, Alma Stanton, Barbara Benson and Shirley Gardiner and three brothers, William Stanton, Raymond Stanton and Robert Stanton.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel, 700 W. Gourley Pike with Reverends Peter Casalino, Tom White and Dean Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
