Gregory Joe Rinnert, 68, of Bloomington, passed away May 29, 2020. He succumbed to injuries following a motor vehicle crash. Gregg was born July 20, 1951 in Monroe County to Henry “Hank” and Virginia (McGlothlin) Rinnert. He had been in the construction industry throughout his life. Starting as a laborer with Local #741 and had worked his way up to Construction Management overseeing numerous projects, some of which included; Bloomington Hospital parking garage, Circle Centre Mall, and his most recent accomplishment being IU Kelley School of Business with The Skillman Corporation. Gregg and Kathy (Yates) were married July 11, 1969 and blessed with a beautiful life together. They built their retirement home in Port Charlotte, Florida and enjoyed making wonderful memories there alongside their children. He had a passion for politics, was an avid racing fan and enjoyed spending time with family and his beloved dogs, Kookie and Lucy. Gregg was preceded in death by his father and mother (Hank and Virginia Rinnert), father-in-law and mother-in-law (Roy and Grace Yates) and his nephew, Billy Rinnert. Gregg is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his three children, Toby (Ellen) Rinnert, Bloomington, IN, Travis (Cheryl) Rinnert, Marion, NC, Rachelle (J) McLean, Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Zach (Taylor), Hannah (Austin), Travis II (Lexie), Chelsea (Bryan), Kirah, Kyson, Mercedees (Tyler), Savannah, Darian, Miranda; his brother, Bill (Teresa) Rinnert; sisters-in-law, Lynne (Marlie) Dallas, Mary Beth (Bob) Willison; several nieces and nephews. He was so proud to be a great-grandfather to Ava Grace Rinnert and Allie Marie Lynn Hanners. There will be a Celebration of Life in his honor for family and friends on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. @ Elks Lodge; 400 N. Walnut St; Bloomington, IN.
