

Jack Lee Halstead 62, of Ellettsville passed away on March 8, at his home with his loving family at his side. Jack was born on October 3, 1947 in Bloomington, he was the son of Raymond (Bill) and Norma Jean (Ruth) Halstead.
He graduated from Bloomington South High School in 1965. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was also a member on the Indiana National Guard from 1977 to 2007. He was a member of the American Legion, NRA, and was affiliated with Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville. Jack received an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology from Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis in 1971. He worked as an Auto Mechanic with Services Stations and Automobile Dealerships in Bloomington. In 1981 he went to work for the Military Department of Indiana where he retired in 2007. Jack loved fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, working in the yard, and flying his Ultralight plane.
Jack leaves behind his wife of 34 years Donna (Jenkins) Halstead of Ellettsville, brother Jerry and Judith Halstead, sister Dianne and E.R. Martin of Bloomington, sister-in-laws Carol and Jim Whaley of Solsberry, Karen lynn Combs of Bloomfield, Vicki Hunter of Solsberry, and his mother-in-law Helen Jenkins of Solsberry. He also leaves behind fourteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary today from 4 – 8 PM. Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Brother Kevin Albert officiating. Burial will take place at Valhalla Memory Gardens where Military Honors will be conducted.
