James “Jim” Paul McPheeters, 78, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was born September 1, 1942 in Bloomington, IN the son of the late Donald and Luella (Hohnhaus) McPheeters.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Bloomington High School and was a United States Army Veteran. Many knew Jim for fitting and selling them shoes, often spanning generations within families. He was a hard worker and a friend and mentor to many co-workers. He was caring and kind with a heart of gold. Jim enjoyed horseback riding, jet skiing, enjoying a beer with his friends at Nick’s English Hut, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Domenica Riley; his brother, Bob McPheeters and his wife Debi; three grandsons, Zachary Riley and his wife Caroline, Jason Riley, and Isaac Riley; and many other beloved family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Canita Mya McPheeters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday June 3, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel.
