

Larry Dale Fiscus, age 77, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday afternoon at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Larry was born February 17, 1937 in Bloomington, the son of William Byron and Cora Blanche (Davis) Fiscus. He was a graduate of Ellettsville High School, class of 1955. He worked for Sarkes Tarzian and Westinghouse and retired from NSWC Crane. In his retirement years he worked part-time for K&S Rolloff. Larry was a longtime member of the Bloomington West Lions Club, American Legion and the V.F.W. and an active supporter of St. Paul United Methodist Church. His various hobbies included attending auctions, mushroom hunting and watching two or three televisions at one time in his basement “man cave”. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Larry was proud to be a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean war.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Martha Dell (Leach) Fiscus, whom he married on December 31, 1959 at the Crossroads United Methodist Church parsonage; his daughter and son-in-law, Alice Marie and Michael Shields; of Bloomington; one daughter-in-law, Shannon Fiscus, of Bloomington; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Don Lane, of Stanford and Patty and Roger Gillespie, of Valentine, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Melanie Dawn (Kevin) Kinder and Gena Marie (Justin) Morris; one grandson, Royce Kimble and two great-grandchildren, Shelby Marie Kimble and Brayden Lee Kinder.
Larry was preceded in death by one son, Aaron Lee Fiscus, one grandson, Ian Gregory and four brothers, Jimmy, George, Berle and Chester Fiscus.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Pastor Frank VanAllen officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military rites. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
