

Norma Ruth Burns, age 68, of Bloomington, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday October 13 at Garden Villa of Bloomington. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church where she and her husband, Irv, attended weekly. Ruth loved to study the Bible and did so in Bible Study Fellowship for 12 years, Community Bible Study for 8 years, and through Liberty Home Bible Institute, and Johnson's Bible College, acquired Certificates in Bible and Lay Counseling. All of her life she served in the church in various ways; on Emmaus teams, church pianist, organist, nursing home and prison ministries, Sunday school teacher, children and youth choir, and vacation Bible school. She and Irv also enjoyed singing with a retired group of singers called the "Nightingales". As a Profession Ruth was a certified Home Health Aide and loved caring for people in their homes.
Survivors include her mother, Ann Jones, her husband of 20 years, Irv Burns, 4 children, Cindy Sullivan, Bob Farley, Dan Farley, Debbie Farley, and their father, Everett Farley.
She is also survived by four step-children, Gary Burns, Jeff Burns, Lisa Surface and Debbie Owens. She was Grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 11 Step Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 7 step Great Grandchildren. She leaves 2 sisters, Lana McCray, and Nancy Barrett, 3 brothers, Ray Jones, Steve Jones, and Gary Jones. She was proceeded in death by her father, Norman Jones.
Ruth's passion in life was for her family, dear friends, and most of all her Lord! A celebration of her life, praise and worship service will be at the Free Methodist church on Lincoln and Grimes in Bloomington on Sunday October 17th at 2:07 PM with Pastor Mel Nead officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel will be in charge of arrangements. There will be a gathering of friends at the Church from 1PM till time of service.
There will be a commital service On Monday at Valhalla Memory Gardens at 10AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bloomington Hospital or the Free Methodist Church in Bloomington.
