

Ruby A. Chasteen, age 89, of Bloomington, died Monday evening. Born October 1, 1927 in Bloomington, the daughter of Albert and Lola (Tidd) Stevens. She was a member of the West 11th St. Pentecostal Faith Assembly. Ruby was an avid Bible reader. She gave much love to others and received much love in return hosting family gatherings and sharing a cup of coffee with neighbors that dropped by to visit. She loved to cook, especially her chicken & dumplings.
Ruby is survived by her six children, Paul R. (Tanya) Chasteen, of Bloomington, Everett R. (Sarah Jane) Chasteen, of Bloomington, William L. Chasteen, of Bloomington, Rita R. (William) Bastin, of Indianapolis, Gary W. (Meri) Chasteen, of Mitchell and Janice M. (Randy) Fleener, of Unionville, sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Chasteen in 2008 and seven brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the West 11th St. Pentecostal Faith Assembly with Bro. Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens at 11:30 a.m. Friends may visit the family at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary; Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the W. 11th St. Pentecostal Faith Assembly. The family would also like to send a big “thank you” to the staff at Garden Villa for the special care given to Ruby during her stay there.
