

Ted L. Thickstun, age 77, of Bloomington, died Wednesday morning at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. Born July 21, 1936 In Monroe County, he was the son of Garnet and Alma Marie (Branaman) Thickstun. He was a retired Glazer. He was a very active member of the Bloomington Free Methodist Church, a member of the Hoosier Hills Emmaus Community where he worked several Walks to Emmaus. He served also as a Chaplain for Backstreet Missions and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn J. (Arthur) Thickstun, whom he married January 3, 1978 at the Bloomington Free Methodist Church; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Michael Kennedy, of Danville, Indiana and Denise and Greg Hardin, of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Curtis Bailey, Laura Luther, Quinton Bailey and Isabella Hardin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Lambert Herman and Bonnie and Bob Baker, all of Bloomington; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Melinda Thickstun, of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Thickstun.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Bloomington Free Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in the Valhalla Mausoleum where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike; Bloomington.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Free Methodist Church or to I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice.
