Teresa Maria Zapata, 84, passed away at her home in Bloomington on June 30, 2014. She was born in the village of San Rafael, Mexico to the late Isidro and Sara Lucio Uvalle.
Teresa married the late Ernesto Zapata in Mission, Texas on June 19, 1952.
She was an amazing mother to six children and grandmother to seven and great-grandmother to two sweet babies. Teresa will be remembered to many who knew her as “Mamma Zapata”. She loved to cook and feed her family, enjoyed her garden and loved having flowers around her, especially roses.
She is survived by her six children: San Juanita Zapata of Bloomington, Gonzalo Zapata of Melrose Park, IL, Carlos(wife Pam) Zapata, Sr. of Kempton, IN, Jose Luis Zapata of Bloomington, Ernesto(wife Stephanie)Zapata, Jr. of McCordsville, IN and Leticia(husband David)Zapata Gonzalez of Bloomington, 9 grandchildren: David(wife Tammy)Zapata, Daniel Zapata, Carlos(wife Anika)Zapata, Jr., Nick Michael, Brooklyn(husband Brent)Turner, Cheyenne Michael, Amber Corsaro, and two great grandchildren: Emma Becker Zapata, and Eli Becker Zapata.
Teresa is also survived by her sister Rebeca(husband Cristelo)Gonzalez and her brother Carlos(wife Felipa)Lucio.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 4-9 p.m. in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, 700 W. Gourley Pike, Bloomington, IN 47404. There are no services in Bloomington.
The funeral service will be in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The visitation will be held in Valley Memorial Gardens, Mission, Texas on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. Burial in Valley Memorial Gardens.
