

Albert G. Bonnie - Born June 22nd 1929 native Brooklynite, long time New York State resident and residing the last 30 years in Ft Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Delray Beach Florida, passed away Christmas night December 25th, 2013 at Delray Medical Center.
Prior to enjoying his retirement in the Sunshine State Albert's businesses were extremely diverse. His interests include positions at Lincoln Savings Bank as well as other institutions within the 5 Boroughs, market research for Breslin Realty and former owner of the Newbridge Inn, which at the time was a favorite hang out for NY Islanders hockey team members.
After high school graduation from Saint Augustus along with his brother Joseph, he joined his father Albert Sr. in founding the Bonnie Boys Club in Flatbush Brooklyn. For nearly 60 years the Bonnie's provided tens of thousands of youngsters a diversion from loitering and getting into trouble. Instead Bonnie teams dominated the baseball fields at the Parade Grounds, Bay 8th Street, Prospect Park and Johnstown National championships with the primary goal of college placement.
Over the years he organized many fundraisers including a day to honor Roy Campanella at Shea Stadium in the late 1970's. Festivities included the cast of TV sitcom Happy Days playing softball with then wives of the Mets baseball team.
While residing in South Florida Al was happy to organize many Church Ave/Brooklyn Reunions having attendees come in from all over the country.
Past honors include induction into the Bonnie Youth Organization Hall of Fame and Saint Augustus High School Alumni Hall of Fame. At the time of his death he was the long standing Vice President of the Bonnie Youth Organization.
He is survived by his infant granddaughter Miranda Luna and her parents Kevin Bonnie and daughter in law Renata, son Jim Bonnie, brother Joseph Bonnie Sr., sister in law Naomi, their children Theresa Bonnie, Catherine Steigerwald (Jason), Joseph Bonnie II (Janis), Elizabeth Smout (Lee) and all their children as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and countless friends.
A Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 29 at the Babione Funeral Home (East Chapel) from 5-8 pm and a Mass of Christian Burial; Monday, 10 am at St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Highland Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colby Keep On Truckin, 561-272-2122. Albert will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in East Flatbush, NY.
