Allen Vincent Yonnetti, known as" Al" to his friends and" Popi" to his family, was born in the
Bronx, NY on August 1, 1925. Allen passed away on November 10, 2012 of heart
complications and pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents Philomena and
Henry Yonnetti, stepmother Josephine Yonnetti, a 7 yr. old son, John, and an infant son and
daughter.
He served in WWII and ran his own TV repair business in the 1950's. He also worked as a
cameraman in the 60's and was chief engineer for ABC and CBS in NYC working on such shows as Sesame Street, The Jackie Gleason Show and The Johnny Mathis Christmas Specials, along with many commercials.
In 1988, Allen retired to Boca Raton, Florida and lived his dream of watching the golfers from
his backyard for the past 24 years. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lucy, a
son, Edward of Boca Raton, FL; a daughter, Elaine (Brad) Ausmus of Colorado Springs, CO;
a granddaughter, Kelly (Nick) Cowin of Riverton, UT; a grandson, Jesse Rooney of Denver, CO; a
great-grandson, Erik Cowin and step great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Cowin of Riverton, UT;
two sisters; Marie Chiappa of Wingdale, NY; Jo-Ann (Doug) Ward of Rhinebeck, NY, and
many nieces and nephews.
Allen and Lucy built 6 homes together. He enioyed fixing "everything" and loved to golf and
bowl weekly. He was proud of his kids' and grandkids' accomplishments. Even though he
often displayed a gruff erterior, Dad was a softie inside. His blue eyes sparkled when he
smiled.
We thank you for helping us pay our respects to this wonderful husband, father, brother,
grandfather and great-grandfather.
