Anne was born in Dalian, a port city in northeast China on March 23, 1944, during WWII, when the city was under Japanese occupation. She spent her toddler years running for safety from the Japanese army and Chinese Communist soldiers before settling in Taiwan in 1948. Anne worked as a kindergarten teacher until she met her husband, Dick, in 1961. They migrated to the US and settled in South Florida since 1978 to build a better life for their family.
Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She devoted her entire life caring for and loving her family. To her siblings, Anne was a thoughtful sister. She always welcomed her siblings at her home, and she helped them during the time of adversity and hardships. To her nieces and nephews, Anne was another mother to them. She treated them as if they were her own. To her own children, Anne was the most loving mother one could ask for. Her life was centered on raising her children to ensure they succeeded in life. To her grandchildren, she was the best cook and grandmother in the world. Anne loved every single one of her grandchildren and would stay up around the clock to cook their favorite dishes and take care of them. Her grandchildren were her joy in life, and she developed a unique relationship with each one of them. She loved that they called her “Ama”!
Anne was the most dedicated wife a man could ever dream of. Her devotion to her husband was one of the greatest love stories. Dick and Anne’s love relationship has been the envy of many. They were happily married for 57 years until Dick passed away in 2019.
Playing piano, cooking, gardening, traveling and serving the church brought great happiness to Anne. She would go out of her way to cook for family and friends and those in need and enjoyed playing the piano at home and at church.
Anne also had a knack for gardening and was dedicated to serving her church. She enjoyed traveling back to Asia visiting her siblings and relatives and taking trips with her children and grandchildren.
Anne leaves fond memories to be cherished by her children: Len, Steve (Queenie) and Helen (John), six grandchildren: Derek, Cindy, Duncan, Alex, Ethan and Jake. She is also survived by 8 siblings and many nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service for Anne will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Babione Funeral Home, 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, FL 33428, with a gathering to follow until 5:00 PM.
