Anthony John Lobig

Anthony “Tony” J. Lobig, age 80, passed away on September 27, 2019 in Boca Raton, Florida. Tony was born July 10, 1939 in Newburgh, New York to the late William H. and Margaret (Murray) Lobig. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark, and his brothers William “Billy” and Frank “Douglas” Lobig. Tony is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marguerite “Marge” (Doderer) Lobig; brother-in-law William Doderer; daughter Mary (Larry) Giberson; daughter-in-law Peggy “Denise” Lobig; grandchildren, Jessica (Jorge) Rosario, and Clint and William “Billy” (Tara Moody) Lobig; great-grandchildren, Brayden Swisher, Juliette, Victoria and Hunter Rosario, and Rosie Lobig; and several nieces and nephews.

Following high school, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1957. He completed Marine boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina and was stationed at Marine Corps Base, Twentynine Palms, California. Tony also served on an aircraft carrier and as an Infantry Weapons Armorer at the Naval Missile Facility, Point Arguello, California. Following his military service, he returned home to Newburgh where he met and married Marge and began his family. Tony initially worked in the insurance industry, which brought moves to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Tony and his family settled in Florida in 1975, where he worked as a real estate agent and limousine driver until his retirement.

Tony had a great sense of humor and was often the life of the party. His hobbies included golf, fly fishing, and reading crime novels by James Patterson and Mickey Spillane. He enjoyed watching football games, John Wayne films and his other favorite movies, Shane, Jim Thorpe: All-American, Caddyshack and Christmas Vacation. He loved taking road trips and spending time at his cabin in North Carolina, where he could often be found listening to his favorite music CDs, including The Highwaymen, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Eva Cassidy. In later years, he regularly tuned into Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Above all else, Tony was a dedicated family man and loyal friend who will be forever missed.
