Brian Clancy, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, friend, and man of deep Catholic faith, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born on November 30, 1939, to James and Dorothy Clancy, Brian grew up in Garden City, Long Island, as the second of four children. He was predeceased by his older brother James and younger sister Dorothy and is survived by his beloved sister Denise.
A proud alumnus of St. Andrew’s Prep School in Canada, Brian later worked in Montreal before entering the U.S. Army in 1961, where he served honorably for three years. His early career with the Swedish American Cruise Line afforded him the privilege of traveling the world many times over, igniting a lifelong love of travel and adventure.
In 1969, Brian met the love of his life, Ursula. After three years of courtship, they married on a cold, rainy February day in New York in 1972 — a union that endured for over 50 wonderful years until Ursula’s passing in 2022. Together they raised two children, Brian and Erika, and built a life filled with laughter, love, and faith.
Brian’s professional life spanned hotel management, new home construction, and corporate real estate — a field in which he found great success. His career took the family from Georgia to Chicago, through New England, and ultimately to Florida, where he and Ursula settled in 2000 to enjoy the sunshine and be closer to family.
A man of deep faith, Brian was devoted to the Rosary, praying it faithfully three times a day. He had a special devotion to St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, and cherished the pilgrimage he made to Lisieux, France, in the late 1990s with his sister Dorothy.
In his Boca Greens community, Brian quickly became a beloved neighbor — affectionately known as the “Mayor.” Always a people person, he loved his daily dog walks, chatting with neighbors, and keeping up with everything happening in the neighborhood. His love for animals and his unwavering sense of advocacy for others reflected his generous and caring spirit.
Brian’s life was defined by his faith, family, and his dedication to those he loved. His kindness, humor, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Brian and Erika, his sister Denise, and his grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
