

Françoise McKinny (Fran, Fofo) passed away on August 12, 2013 with her children by her side after an extended illness. She was born on 9/4/24 in Tenafly, New Jersey to Edmond and Aline Richard. The family was French, living in the USA while her father represented a French business in NYC. Françoise had four siblings: Madeleine, Susie, Jacques and Régine. She always described her childhood as very happy. Each summer the family traveled back to France for several months to the family home in Condrieu on the Rhone River south of Lyon. Françoise attended the Maplehurst Academy of the Sacred Heart in NYC and graduated from Manhattanville College with a degree in mathematics.
In 1948 Françoise married the love of her life, Archibald McKinny. Together they raised ten children, residing primarily in Youngstown, NY and Pompano Beach, FL. Françoise was a founding member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Boca Raton, where she was actively involved in Ministry to the Homebound. She was also employed for many years by Sears & Roebuck, where she was a valued employee.
Françoise is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Archibald; son, Alec; daughter-in-law, Janel McKinny; sister, Madeleine McClellan; and brother, Jacques Richard. She is survived by her children: Eileen Breloff (Joseph) of Lockport, NY; Patty (Jim Wood) of Sodus,NY; Jerry of North Tonawanda, NY; Anne Lopez-Couto (Carlos) of Deland, FL; Lorrie Krause (David) of Plantation, FL;Marian ( Brad) Baird of Tampa; Michelle Robles (David) of Hollywood, FL; Carol (José Villaneuva) of Libertyville, IL; and John (Theresa) of Pompano Beach, FL. She is also survived by her sisters Susie Jacquand and Régine Winter (Cliff); 27 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews both in the USA and France, and many dear friends. She was a kind, caring person whose life was informed by her faith in God and the teachings of the Catholic Church. She always put the needs of others before her and never complained, even in her last difficult days. She will deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
