George Richard Hays

George was born in Rochester Minnesota on September 20, 1936. He was the first-born son of Lucille and Roy Hays.

He met his high school sweetheart Maxine while attending Lourdes Catholic High School and working at a local diner: she was a waitress and he was a fry order cook.

They married in 1954 and raised a wonderful family with 4 children: Michael, Mary Jo, Mark, and Matthew. In 1957, Richard began working at IBM. In 1969, the family relocated to Boca Raton Florida. While at IBM Richard served as Manager of Production Control, New Products Administrator, and Manager of Manufacturing and Distribution, where he was part of the core team on the IBM Personal Computer. He retired after 32 years as International Manager of International Manufacturing Operations.

He is survived by his four children, Michael, Mary Jo Braisted, Mark (Louise), and Matthew

(Dianne). His eight grandchildren Sarah Hays, Ryan Hays, Christina Hays, Brittany Hays, Mark Thomas Hays, Jennifer Braisted, Christopher Hays, and Richard Hays, and four great-grandchildren, and brother Patrick Hays of Austin, Minnesota.

George served his church community as a member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree, and for over 15 years as Vice-President and President of the Ushers Ministry at St. Joan of Arc Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lucille Hays, his sister, Louise Hopkins, his daughter-in-law Patricia Hays, and his beloved wife of over 68 years, Maxine Hays.

A memorial gathering for George will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Babione - Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33432. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 370 SW 3rd Street, Boca Raton, FL 33432.
