Jeanette Smith Blickle passed away January 20, 2026 at 99 years of age —She was the heart of our family, our matriarch, our constant, our center. To her four children she was Mom. Her six grandchildren called her Mama.
She guided our family not with force, but with love. With expectations of good character, with proclamations of support, encouragement, trust, and warmth.
Her love was fierce, loyal, and unconditional. She gave her children unwavering support, patience, and grace. She made you feel Safe-Seen-Chosen. You always knew where you stood with her, right in her heart.
She was iconic in her poise and elegance. Fashion-forward and effortlessly glamorous. Whether she was wearing Dior sunglasses and a bikini on the beach in Exuma, draped in fur heading to dinner at the Club in Hound Ears, or stepping out in a St. John knit with perfectly matched Ferragamo heels and handbag; there wasn’t an outfit that didn’t love to see her coming.
And woven through all of it - through the glamour, the humor, the traditions - was love. Real love. The kind that anchors generations.
She leaves behind all the very best parts of the beautiful life she lived: her 3 living children - Susan Rouquette, Bonnie Alter, and Charles Blickle (Melinda), her 6 grandchildren – Julien Rouquette, Carrie Alter McMichaels (husband Matthew McMichaels), Heather Litvak (husband Andrew Litvak, Ashley Arviv (husband Adam Arviv), Jennifer Alter (Corey Blick), and , and Alexia Rouquette (husband Christopher De La Noval) her 10 great-grandchildren (19 counting her step Great Grandkids who she loved one and all). She lives on in every lesson she taught us, every memory she created with us, and every moment she made us each feel cherished.
She is predeceased by her parents Eva and Raymond Smith, her loving husband Charles Robert Blickle and her son Bradford Peter Blickle.
She was grace. She was strength. She was love.
And though we say goodbye today, we will each carry her with us; always, and in our own special ways.
