Joseph C. Vinti went home to Jesus on December 18, 2019 having lived a full life for 92 years. Joe was born in the Bronx. A fan of the Yankees had seen them play many times at Yankee stadium. After our move to Florida I remember him coming home one afternoon excited because he had seen Joe DiMaggio having coffee in our local donut shop. Our Dad enlisted in the Marines towards the end of WWII. Fortunately, the war ended as his training ended; his service sent him far away to China, and the snow and cold of Alaska. On his return he joined his father at Vinti Advertising on Madison Avenue. The ‘50’s were the heydays of advertising. Together they courted and won local companies like Progresso Foods, Ronzoni, and Gallo Wines bringing their products to national and international markets. My dad would tell stories of driving through Italy with the Gallo brothers and cases of wine stopping at restaurants to show them the wine. As supporters of the Opera they produced two television programs featuring up and coming opera stars. It was the first-time subtitles were used on live television – and this was before computers made that a common occurrence.
He met a stunning beauty, Fausta, and married her. Together they raised three children as independent in spirit and opinions as they are. Unfortunately, the advertising firm had to close. They made the difficult decision in 1978 to move to Florida as New York in the ‘70’s was a very difficult city. He reinvented himself many times always finding joy in whatever he undertook.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fausta, his children Joseph, Bruno, and Rose, granddaughter Alina, and his sister Nadia Sammarco.
Viewing will be Saturday, December 28, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at Babione Kraeer Funeral Home, Boca Raton, FL. Burial will be Tuesday, December 31, at 9:30AM at South Florida National Veterans Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL. The family asks that flowers not be sent but a donation made to the Metropolitan Opera (metopera.org) to one of the programs they offer.
