Linda Ross Hufft

Linda Ross Hufft passed away on March 28, 2017. She was born in 1943 in Winston-Salem, NC. Her loving parents were Herman Willard and Ida Mae (nee McKee) Ross and her only sibling Arthur (Buddy) Ross who all had predeceased her. She leaves two daughters: Cynthia Cox and Debra Sermarini, and two grandchildren: Kate and Nate Sermarini. She resided in Fort Lauderdale before moving to Boca Raton.

Linda began a business, Optoelectronics, in 1974. Linda was an absolute pioneer as a woman in the world of electronics and built a great business, through many years of hard work, 80 hour workweeks, determination, intelligence and driving her engineering team to make groundbreaking electronic products and designs that were proudly sold worldwide and to most US government agencies and the US military. She thrived being the President and face of Optoelectronics and was highly respected by her peers even though she was a woman in what was a man's industry at the time. Her family was always so very proud to have such a dynamic and courageous Mother as an example.

Linda felt strongly in her Christian beliefs. She loved her Scottish heritage and traveled many times to visit her hereditary homeland of EasterRoss in the Scottish Highlands. A favorite pastime was going to Las Vegas with her family and she traveled there often throughout her life and always had a great time there. She was an animal lover, she donated generously to animal charities and always had several dogs and she leaves behind her beloved dogs Sophie, Hannah, Lilly and Noel. A sharp wit, sense of humor and keen intellect were some of her best qualities, but greatest was her love, generosity, and friendship that all in her life cherished by knowing her. She absolutely put the well being of all of her loved ones always before herself. A beloved friend summed it up perfectly, "She was easy to love". Linda will not be easy to be missed and will always be remembered with great devotion by her family and friends.
