Mary was born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio to Merrill Cosgrove and Alice (Powers) Cosgrove. Her mother Alice was from Ireland and moved to Toledo where she met and married Merrill.
Mary attended Good Shepherd Catholic Grade School and then graduated from Waite High School in Toledo, Ohio.
Mary moved to South Florida from Toledo with her three children in 1961. She worked various secretarial jobs to support her family. She started her own travel agencies in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton in the early 70’s. After she sold the travel business in the mid 80’s she became a realtor. She consistently place in the top echelon of Florida Real Estate Agents. She reluctantly retired from Coldwell Banker when she turned 85.
Mary will be remembered as a hard-working woman and loving mother who always made time for family and friends. She was a role model and inspiration to her family and granddaughters. She loved to travel, and frequently talked about her travel adventures - from the Pyramids of Egypt to African Safaris, from the Great Wall of China to the Holy Land. And she often visited her extended family in Ireland. She loved traveling and wanted to pass this love along to her granddaughters, so she took each of them to Europe after graduation.
Mary is survived by her son Steve Krieg and daughters Lynn (Garry) Ikola and Alissa (Micheal) Marre. She has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (370 SW 3rd St, Boca Raton, FL 33432) starting at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 AM on Thursday September 12th, followed by a Celebration of Life at Babione Funeral Home at 1100 N. Federal Hwy (Federal and Glades Rd) Boca Raton beginning at noon on Thursday.
