

Robert was born February 11, 1932 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He attended St. Aloysius Grammar School. In 1951, Robert graduated from Henry Snyder High School, Jersey City. He finished his education with a B.S. degree in Business Management, from Farleigh Dickenson College in Rutherford, New Jersey.
Robert started his Military career in The U.S. Naval Reserves. Then he entered the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves until May of 1952. He entered the Army in 1952, where he was a Corporal. Bob was stationed in Germany, until May 1954. There he served in the U.S. Finance Corps. He was given an Honorable Discharge along with many metals.
After the Army he resided in Jersey City, New Jersey and summered at his family’s summer home in Avon, New Jersey.
Robert met and married Winfred T. Ruane in 1957. They moved to Teaneck, New Jersey. They had 5 children together: Robert, Jr., Steven, Leigh, John and Mark. At some point they move to Tenafly and summered at their home in Deal, New Jersey.
He maintained road construction for Colgate Palmolive for 25 years. While following in his father’s footsteps of maintaining his own construction business in Jersey City.
Robert was a very active member of society. Listed here are just a few of his accomplishments: a member of the New York Athletic Club, Wingedfoot Country Club, Tammy Book Country Club in Cresskill, New Jersey, Vice-President of the Tenafly Democratic Club, Vice-President and Treasurer of the Tenakill Swim Club, President of Tenafly Unico, on the Mt. Carmel School Board of Education and also their fundraising Chairman.
In August of 1975 the family moved to Boca Raton, FL. Bob continued his own Road Construction Business, in Palm Beach County.
While in FL, Robert was President of his condominium association, he also enjoyed golfing, cars, swimming, traveling and of course most of all being with his children and then grandchildren.
Robert was the youngest son of the late Samuel and Caroline Colacurcio, Sr., of Jersey City and Deal, New Jersey. His father was well known not only for his contracting business, which projects helped to build the Pulaski Skyway and the Tunnely Circle, but more for buying, at the age of 32, the well known Jersey City Skeeters, the International Minor League Baseball Team in 1929. The team then became the Jersey Giants. He also owned The Wilkes-Barre Barons in Pennsylvania. Samuel was known as “Mr. Baseball”.
Robert was predeceased by his older brother, Samuel, Jr. of Hallandale Beach, FL, his sister Mrs. Jeanne Mulderig of Deal and Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Robert is survived by his five children and three grandchildren. They are: Robert, Jr. and his wife Ellen, Steven and his son Riley, Leigh Colacurcio McGrane and her husband Fred McGrane and their two sons Colin and Dylan, John and Mark. He is also survived by his ex-wife Winifred T. Ruane.
One of Robert’s greatest joys in life was being with his three grandsons: Colin McGrane, Riley Colacurcio and Dylan McGrane.
Robert was also lucky enough to have many loving nieces and nephews: Carole Migliano and her husband Tom, twin nieces Kathleen and Denise Mulderig, Samuel Colacurcio, III and his wife Thea, Francis Colacurcio and Lisa Cohan. He always gave them guidance, attention and love to the best of his ability.
Robert Dominick Colacurcio, Sr., was a very kind, respected and gentle man. He loved life, making friends and loving his family. Family loved and respected him. Robert, Bob and Popsy you will be missed but, thought of lovingly on a daily basis.
Arrangements under the direction of Babione Funeral Home, Boca Raton, FL. In Lieu of flowers contributions in his name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
