Robert was born on January 28, 1942, in New Brunswick, Canada, to Alvina and Edward Doiron. One of thirteen children, Robert was surrounded by siblings that loved and took care of him. During his early life in his hometown of Acadie Siding, he attended school and worked trade jobs before moving to the United States at the young age of 18 years old to chase greater opportunities.
Once stateside (landing in Waltham, Massachusetts), Robert worked countless hours across many jobs to provide for his family; ensuring that they had everything he could provide. Whether it was the latest equipment for Randy’s newfound passion for skiing or the newest gear for Michael’s karate classes – whatever he could provide, that is what the family received.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed hunting deer. As an avid hunter who spent many weekends trekking into the woods, he never actually came home with any deer; until one weekend, when the deer found him. Traveling up the snow-covered highway of Route 24, Robert hit a deer jumping across the two-laned road with his truck. No one could have imagined such an accident, but it became a hilarious story shared across the family.
Living on the outskirts of Boston, Robert was also an enthusiastic sports fan – enjoying all Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins. His love for the ice came from his Canadian roots and you could see how happy it made him when watching the games. He even had the special opportunity of seeing the Boston Bruins play the Florida Panthers in their Florida arena with his son, Randy, and grandson, Owen – three generations of Doiron’s cheering on their favorite team.
His greatest achievement, though, was in being an amazing grandfather. With seven grandchildren to love and laugh with, dote over, and spoil – he was the happiest when he was with them. His funny sayings, infectious laugh, and fun traditions made time with grandpa extra special and meaningful.
As we celebrate his life, we know that Robert is survived by his children: Randy (and his wife Lisa) and Michael (and his wife Susan); as well as his seven beloved grandchildren: Owen, Madelyn, Sydney, Harper, Christopher, Nicholas and Emily – who will all hold him and his memories deep in their hearts. In remembrance, he is also preceded in death by his parents and siblings (Gladys, Francis, and Bernice). Lastly, he will also be remembered fondly by many friends who were touched by his kind heart, generosity, and loyal friendship.
A viewing for Robert will be held at Babione - Kraeer Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
