

Roger Robinson of Boca Raton, FL passed away Nov. 10th, 2013 after a courageous three year battle with Lung Cancer. Roger was born on Jan. 9th, 1947 in Ventura, CA, he grew up in Santa Paula, CA. and graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1964.
He enjoyed a long and successful career in the Railroad Industry (42 years) Starting in 1966 as a Machinist Apprentice with Southern Pacific Railroad in Roseville, CA. After getting his Degree in Accounting from Sacramento State University in 1972 he was promoted to an Accountant and was transferred to Sacramento, where he quickly moved up to a Management Position in the company. He was transferred to Pine Bluff, AR. In 1989, then to Los Angeles, CA. in 1993 after the company was acquired by Union Pacific Railroad, and then he was transferred to the North Little Rock, AR. Shops and retired there in 2001. He then was offered a top Management for Rail America, INC, in Boca Raton, FL. Where he finally retired for good in 2009.
Roger served in the United States Army from 1967 to1969 including a year tour of duty in Viet Nam he was with the 25th Infantry Division, 5th Mechanized Infantry. He received many commendations including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with Two campaign Stars, Bronze Star, and The Presidential Unit Citation. He should have received the Purple Heart but some records were lost so this is still in the works.
Roger was active in the West Boca Moose 204 where he served as Governor for the 2008-2009 year he was also a member of the VFW, Am Vets, American Legion, and the 25th Infantry Club.
He is survived by his Wife Sue of 45 years, Sons Scott and Kevin and Daughter Christine, he also leaves a Brother Fred Robinson and his wife Sharon of Santa Paula, CA. He is also survived by 5 Grand Children, Haley, Kylee, Sabrina, Grace and Brady.
The Family would like to Thank the Doctor’s, Nurse’s and Staff at the Palm Beach VA Hospital and the Hospice By the Sea for their compassionate care.
There will be a Celebration of his Life on Sunday Nov. 17th at 11:00 AM at the West Boca Moose Lodge 204, 131 N. Powerline Rd., Deerfield Beach, Fl.
