Vincent Anthony Joy, Jr. (69) of Boca Raton, Florida passed peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2023.
A Memorial Service will be planned, to take place in Arizona, sometime in October, 2023, (date to be determined). At that time his family will host a "Celebration of Life" for both Vince and his beloved mother, Marguerite, "Peggy", who passed on 10/29/22.
Vince's family includes his lovely wife, Wei Meng, and her sons, Jack and David. He is also survived by his adoring siblings, Dr. Damien Joy (fiancée, Brenda), Margaret & Dr. Drew Bailey, Lindsey Davison, Allison & Rob Day & Dr. Jeannine Brennan. Vince was truly loved by his nieces and nephews, Meggie, Emma, Steven, Mallory, Mackenzie, Victoria, Tracy, Gil, Johanna, Charles, Charley, his Godson, Alex & his precious Nora. He is remembered by his cherished cousins, several Godchildren and many esteemed friends, throughout the country.
Vincent was preceded in death by his revered parents, Peggy and Dr. Vincent A. Joy, Sr., and his treasured brother, Stewart.Vincent was born on October 8, 1953 in Long Beach, Ca. His family moved to Long Island, New York (via New Jersey and Brooklyn) where he attended St. Raymonds School. There, he forged lifelong friendships, which have endured through present day. He also made long time friends through his attendance at New York Military Academy, Niagara University, and his favorite alma mater, Arizona State University, (1977). "Go Devils!"
Vince received his BS in Finance and Engineering. He worked as an Accountant with the Orthopedic practice of Dr. Gerald Higgins; this was followed by a long-term career in the Auto industry, most recently with Nissan Infiniti. He always loved Cars! But first and foremost, Vince loved God, his family and friends, and his Country. Vince was a devout Catholic and lived his life as such. He espoused the virtues of America & could often be found "raging against the machine."
Vince was not simply smart. He was brilliant, with an amazing memory for facts and figures. His special interests included economics, history, geography, and sports. He was eloquent, with an extensive vocabulary and could speak to the level of any audience. When asked how he came to know so much, Vince quoted a friend, who said, "I paid attention."
Vince had an eclectic taste in music that goes unrivaled. He introduced all of us to the very best. He saw the great ones before anyone else knew they were great. He enjoyed movies and good comedy. He was active in sports, including golf and skiing, but especially, basketball, which he played into his 60's, (only stopped by the Covid pandemic.) He loved his Yankees, Notre Dame football, and most of all, ASU.
Those who cared for Vince knew him to be a man of faith, conviction and character. He engaged people in smart conversation, with a quick wit, endless reference to the facts and always with a good-natured sense of humor. He spoke with everyone he met. Indeed, he 'never met a stranger.'
We are all enriched for having known him, heartbroken for having lost him, and hopeful that we may meet again!
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.babionesouthflorida.com for the Joy family.
